Ryokan with amazing breakfast, onsen and incredible service

I have never felt such incredible customer service as this small but very homely ryokan. We were picked up promptly from Kawaguchiko station, welcomed with tea, biscuits to our room with tatami mat and a fantastic view of Mt. Fuji. The onsen is great and relaxing (it’s a very small ryokan so you’re unlikely to run into a crowd, I had the onsen all the myself for the 2 nights!). But the breakfasts were beyond any of my expectations - we were served a delicious traditional breakfast with grilled salmon, tamagoyaki, salad, pickles and miso soup on the first day and sukiyaki, bacon, sausages & eggs, miso soup & fruit and yogurt on the second day. The food were delicious, healthy & fresh; we were so stuffed we practically rolled ourselves out the door!
The hotel reception was also very helpful and always made us feel so at home. She helped us called taxi, called restaurants to check opening hours and wrote us a cute little farewell note on beautiful Fuji mountain postcard photos. We also asked her to help us organize tabikyun (luggage delivery service) so we could deliver our luggage straight to our next hotel in Tokyo when we check out.
I’m very grateful for the incredible service and would definitely come back and recommend others to book this lovely & homely place! Definitely a 10/10.

Traditional experience with good location and price

Very authentic feel, from the rooms to the food. The hot spring bath is of course a must try. There is a separate male and female bath, wasn't busy when I went. I found the staff helpful and informative and noticed the room had instructions on how to wear the garb and use the baths.
The room itself was very clean and had plenty of amenities. The area is completely walkable though I recall the hotel offering a driver which was nice. There are a few nice things to do in the village, which I recommend visiting regardless.
If time is on a budget I think 1 night will suffice for the area. Do note that the view of Fiji is not a guarantee - the staff member actually apologised and gave me a photo of Fiji as it was covered in fog that day, which was very sweet!
5* from me.

Authentic Japanese accommodation experience.

When we were planning the trip we found that the accommodation cost in the Kawaguchiko area is pretty high. We surveyed several hotels, which were either over our budget or too isolated. Then we found the Taiheikan, which was like a ryokan (though they don't call themselves one) but with a much lower room rate than the ryokans we knew of. It's within short walking distance from the lake (where we took reflection photos of the Mt. Fuji), several restaurants, and some attractions. A convenient store is right across the road. It also offers free transportation to/from the train station and bus depot. We booked a room for two nights at once. Before we went there we communicate with its manager via emails to confirm the pick-up arrangement and to ask for weather info, etc. The replies were fast and informative. When we got there, we immediately knew that we made the right choice. The hotel building is a traditional one, but very well maintained. Most rooms have the Mt. Fuji view (weather permitting). Our room is very spacious and clean, with a toilet and washing basin. For bath there are onsen pools for male and female guests separately. We particularly liked their Japanese hospitality, and felt genuinely welcome. The only inconvenience is that there is no elevator, but we knew it in advance and left our main luggage in Tokyo, bringing only backpacks. Another thing to notice is that they only accept cash for payment. If you would like to enjoy an authentic Japanese accommodation experience in your trip to Japan, I would strongly recommend this hotel.

Feel at home

Go to Japan must experience Japanese-style hotel, feel at home. When get into the entrance, the staff told you "Okaeri", just like the sence of Japanese TV drama. The room is very large and clean, very comfortable to live. Breakfast is delicious and look nice. Because it is not the peak season, hot springs in addition to me no other guests, very comfortable. Unfortunately, the weather is poor, Mount Fuji hid into the clouds. Check out the staff to drive me to the station, each other handshake farewell, there is a trace of nostalgia.
